Vita
Dr Anton Georg Buchmeier was born in Munich on 27 August 1965. After attending primary school in Eching, he transferred to the Dom-Gymnasium in Freising in 1975, where he obtained his general higher education entrance qualification (certificate) in 1984.
After completing his military service as a regular soldier with the Pioneers in Munich, he studied business administration at the Stuttgart University of Cooperative Education with a scholarship from Linde AG, Technical Gases Group, where he graduated in 1991 with a BA in business information systems.
In 1992, Dr. Buchmeier enrolled at the Technical University of Munich in mathematics with a minor in computer science, where he received his diploma in mathematics with an overall grade of 1.0 in 1996 and only one year later earned his doctorate with distinction in the field of global stochastic optimisation at the Chair of Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics under Prof. Dr. Klaus Ritter.
During this time, Dr Buchmeier continued to work for Linde AG, including as a systems analyst and design reviewer for software projects. After a year as an IT security specialist at IABG in Ottobrunn, Dr Buchmeier moved to Siemens AG, Corporate Technology (CT) in 1999 as a project scientist, where he was appointed Senior Principal Research Scientist, the fourth and highest level of CT scientists worldwide, for outstanding achievements in the field of stochastic algorithms. As such, he was responsible for Mathematical Engineering and represented Siemens on the Industrial Advisory Committee of the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) at the University of Minnesota, an institution whose mission is to bring together high-end mathematics ("mathematics of the heaviest caliber") and applications. Through this work, Dr Buchmeier was able to gain extensive experience in applying mathematical methods to engineering problems.
As part of a teaching assignment at the Technical University of Munich, he held special lectures for mathematics students in their main studies, including on the topics of modelling and simulation, mathematics of neural networks and distribution theory.
Dr. Buchmeier was appointed Professor of Computer Science and Mathematics/Statistics at the then Weihenstephan University of Applied Sciences on 01.10.2002. He represents these topics in the GL department of today's University of Applied Sciences Weihenstephan-Triesdorf in the Food Technology course. Since 2014, he has also been reading Experimental Science and Bio- and Business Mathematics in the Horticulture degree programme. The scientific focus of Dr Buchmeier's work is on computer networks, IT security, databases, programming and statistical experimental design.
From 03/2014 to 04/2021 he held the office of the official data protection officer of the University of applied sciences, as such he is also TÜV-certified.
He is certified by the International Information System Security Certification Consortium ((ISC)2) as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) (CISSP/CCSP), and by the International Council of E-Commerce Consultants (EC-Council) as a Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH v9), Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (C|HFI v9) and EC-Council Certified Encryption Specialist (E|CES v1). In the field of IT service management, he holds an ITIL certification.
Dr. Buchmeier is the IT security officer (CISO, Chief Information Security Officer) at the University of applied sciences.
