Bachelor, project and master theses
Since 2014, students have been offered the opportunity to work on projects within the framework of the LfU's Monitoring of Seepage Water Accompanying Measures. At the permanent monitoring centre in Triesdorf, the aim is to create an improved data basis for monitoring the effectiveness of agricultural measures on nitrate inputs into groundwater.
The extensive equipment of the analytical laboratory enables the processing of a wide range of environmentally relevant topics. Various chromatographic and spectroscopic analytical methods can be used.
In recent years, projects have been carried out on the following topics, among others:
- Determination of soluble, plant-available and total phosphorus as well as heavy metals in sewage sludge ash with and without prior MAP precipitation.
- Determination of antimony in electrical scrap by means of hydride AAS
- Development of a sample preparation of difficult matrices by dialysis for subsequent ion chromatography
- Optimisation of the extraction of chromium-VI from ash according to DIN EN 15192: 2006(D)
- Cadmium determination in environmental samples using graphite furnace AAS
- Comparison of methods for nitrate determination in soil samples using photometry, colorimetry or dialysis and subsequent ion chromatography
- Optimisation of a determination method for selenium in milk samples after digestion and measurement by means of hydride AAS
- Optimisation of a laboratory method for the determination of CAL-soluble phosphorus and potassium in soil and digestate samples
